1. Orientation

Science Wagon uses special transportations and car exhibits to offer public welfare and basic science utilities to those who live in the towns, villages and communities.

2．Running Mode

Under the guidance of China Association for Science and Technology, Science Wagon is held and implemented by China Science and Technology Museum. Plans are made after strict examination. Local associations for science and technology will take the responsibility of running, and China Association for Science and Technology will award outstanding associations.

3. Contents

A Science Wagon consists of vehicle, car exhibits and car equipment. Since 2000, China Association for Science and Technology has invented 4 types of science wagon, namely type Ⅰ，type Ⅱ，type Ⅲ and type Ⅳ. Now the type Ⅱ and type Ⅳ play the most important part, mainly showing basic science knowledge equipped with car exhibits, material bags, books, science audio and videos, and other items.

Type Ⅱ is modified from Iveco vehicles, with 25 interactive exhibits in such 4 themes as electromagnetics, optics, mechanics and mathematics. Besides, each Wagon is equipped with oil dynamotors, LCD monitors, trumpets of high pitch and other equipment, and can hold 5 people at a time.

Type Ⅳ has 3 types：the Jinbei, the Iveco and the Quanshun. Since 2012，type Ⅳ has started to hang science exhibits on the wall, including 24 items in such 6 themes as mathematical thinking, electromagnetic phenomena, movements and mechanics, visual experience, material science and mechanical transmission. Each Wagon can hold 3 people.

4. Effects

After development for 14 years, Science Wagon has given out 865 wagons to 31 provinces, municipalities and Xinjiang Construction Corps in China. According to incomplete statistics, Science Wagon has travelled 23.975 million miles, held activities for 129.9 thousand  times, and benefited more than 161.13 million person-times. Thanks to its flexibility, public scientific needs are greatly satisfied. People call it Scientific Knight. On such great science popularization activities as Science Day, Science Week, and Science & Technology, Culture, and Sanitation go to villages and etc., Science Wagon plays an indispensable role.
