In order to carry outAct to Raise Science Awareness among Citizens（2006－2010－2020）profoundly，quicken the pace of spreading science knowledge to distant and impoverished areas widely and improve local people`s science quality, the “mobile science and technology museum ”project was started in June,2010. It was arranged by China Association for Science and Technology and is implemented by China Science and Technology Museum. 

1.Orientation

The mobile science and technology museum possesses basic functions that excellent museums have. It has miniaturized and modularized exhibits and other science materials, providing utilities for public benefit to those areas where science museums haven`t been established.

2. Contents

The China Mobile Science and Technology Museum focuses on the topic of “experiencing science”. It combines science shows, experiments and videos with 50 exhibits in such 7 themes as sound and light, electromagnetism, movement, mathematics, healthy life, secure life and digital life. Visitors can participate in science activities, where they can enjoy the joy of sciences. What`s more, the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum varies according to public needs, making progress creatively.

3. Running Mode

In 2011, China Association for Science and Technology, local Associations for Science and Technology, China Science and Technology Museum and other local Science and Technology Museums established the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum together, with each department doing their bits.

1) China Association for Science and Technology (CAST)

The CAST is the macro managing department, which offers supports by making policies that come out from the Finance Department and the Education Department. It assigns tasks to local associations for science and technology.

2) The Science Popularization Department of CAST

The Science Popularization Department of the CAST is the function managing department, which checks annual work plan, arranges documents` drifting and distributing and coordinates local associations to work for the project. It provides instructions to the implementation and development.

3) China Science and Technology Museum

China Science and Technology Museum is the executing department, which takes the responsibility of general planning, designing, development, supervision, coordination and other tasks of the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum. The tasks includes: making the plan, writing outlines, supervising and managing, making itinerant exhibitions and negotiating with local associations. Besides, the Museum holds the duties of the declaration and constitution of the project.

4) Provincial Associations for Science and Technology and the Key Science and Technology Museums

The Provincial Associations for Science and Technology are mainly responsible for the planning of the development of provincial mobile science and technology museums, the organization of provincial declaration, the functional management of the development of provincial mobile science and technology museums, and the coordination of the itinerate exhibition of China Mobile Science and Technology Museums in local provinces. These processes are pushed forward by the local finance, education, culture and other related departments.

The provincial key science and technology museums are mainly in charge of the planning, organizing and operating of China Mobile Science and Technology Museums in their provinces, including: selection of venues, training of exhibition and education activities, the regular management of exhibits, the exhibits’ perfection etc., ensuring that the mobile science and technology museums are in full use in local provinces.

5) The Grass-root Associations for Science and Technology

The Grass-root Associations for Science and Technology ally the local finance, education, culture and other related departments to conduct the itinerate exhibition of the China Mobile Science and Museums” together. They are mainly in charge of venue selection, visitor organization, keeping record of the number of visitors, training instructors and promoting exhibitions etc.
